23 Weeks

This week I'm feeling ferociously hungry constantly, self-conscious, swollen, big, and pudgy. I'm up 12 lbs, which bums me out.

I'll just be honest and say that this time gaining weight is really hard on me emotionally. I know I'm doing good and I'm on track (by this point with Corb.en I had gained 37 lbs already), but I also started off heavier this time, so my real weight difference between the two pregnancies is 8 lbs. I just don't want to look like a pudgy pregnant lady and I don't want to make things harder on myself when it comes to getting back in shape after Quinn is born. I want to look and feel good about myself. Feeling like my face and thighs are fat and nasty (that's how I feel) is tough!

Okay, pity party is over. I just had to get that out and be real.

I thought my growth scan was this week, but it's actually next week. I can't wait to see my little girl and how much she's grown! 4 more weeks and I'll go in for my next 4D ultrasound. I'm excited about that! I'm so anxious to see what she looks like now.

Oh and you may have noticed my hair is actually down for once. That's right peeps, I finally cut my hair! It feels so good. She cut off more than I had wanted, but I don't mind because my hair is growing so fast right now and I'm not good about keeping up with haircuts.

A Happy Heart

It's sights like these at the end of the day that make my heart happy. I'm so blessed to have my little boy. Oh how I love him.

Move it Little Girl!

The night that I turned 20 weeks, in fact not too long after I wrote my 20 week post, I started feeling big kicks from Quinn. Ha, ask and you shall receive, awesome! The husband and I were even able to feel them from the outside, yaaaayyy... you guys know how much I've been waiting for this. They were high up and just freaking amazing... there's nothing like feeling your baby move. Well, now I sure would like to know what position she's in because most of her kicks or punches (whatever they are) have been down soooo low that they feel really bizarre. It's the weirdest feeling ever and they are so strong! When the husband was feeling them last night he couldn't believe how hard they were. She was jabbing me over and over in the same spot for so long that it was starting to hurt! I guess in addition to "ask and you shall receive", I should add "beggars can't be choosers" to my bag of phrases. It won't stop me from trying.

Quinn darling,

I love you and I know you love me, so can you please redirect all of your impressive kicks and punches to a more comfortable area? Thanks a bunch.

Love,
Your Mommy

p.s. Happy 21 weeks :)

18 Months Old

Corbe.n,

Happy 18 months baby boy! I can't believe you're 1 1/2 years old already! You are the absolute light of my life and there are no words to describe how much I love you and how much joy you bring to my life.

♥ You have really taken your sense of humor to a new level this month and you love to laugh and make others laugh too. You love music and are always making up new dances. You still bust a move when we say "happy feet". It's quite the party trick :).
♥ You're really working on adding words to your vocabulary, but most impressive is your comprehension. You understand so much! Our proudest moment is when we discovered that you know what booger means and when we ask you where your booger is you point to your nostrils. That's my boy! When I tell you there's a baby in my belly you lift up my shirt and look for her, haha.
♥ You are really into mimicking right now and love to copy things that we do. I can understand that... your parents are pretty cool. You love to "help" clean and if you have a paper-towel or cloth in your hand it's guaranteed that you'll be pretending to clean or bathe yourself or the dog. You have such a wonderful curiosity and you want to know what everything is.
♥ We've had a lot of fun with our new playgroup and it's been so much fun seeing you interact with other kids. Buddy, you've just got to realize your own strength and how to be a little more gentle with your friends. You love to wave hello and goodbye to everyone you see.
♥ You have 10 teeth right now and you have 2 more coming in. Those 2 and your last 2 have all been within the last week and it has made you VERY miserable. I hate that it's been so painful for you. It's made you very attached to mommy and you don't like to be away from me, but I don't mind too much because I know one day you won't want to love on me very often. I just hope you start liking the church nursery better or that there was something I could do to make the transition easier on you because I think you'll eventually have a lot of fun in there.
♥ Your favorite time of day is when daddy comes home from work. Once you hear the front door opening you run there as fast as you can and give daddy a hug. Sometimes you'll greet him with "Hi Daddy". No matter how rough your day has been you instantly are in a great mood when he comes home.

It's an honor and a blessing to be your mommy. I am so enjoying our time together right now and look forward to seeing what an awesome little boy you will grow up to be.

When you're sleeping or in the car you still have to have your elephant and your paci. I don't mind.

Sometimes you realize how cool you are and decide you must play with your shades on.

My little mimicker. You even pretend to squirt on gel and then wipe your belly when you're done.

You love to go on dates with your mommy. Oh and notice how you're cleaning the table.

You love for mommy to read you a million books a day, but lately you're really into reading them to yourself too.

"This? This?" Is a common phrase I hear all day.

My boy is suddenly too big to eat his sandwich in cut up pieces. You now want to eat it whole all by yourself. Yes, I'm letting you eat your lunch on the couch. We'll have to break this habit very soon! Right now the only way I can get you to eat your lunch is in the livingroom while watching Yo Gabba Gabba and sometimes mommy just needs some peace and quiet :)

Crafting: Baby Beanies

I love making beanies because they're so quick, easy, adorable, and there are so many varieties that you can make. Last night I decided to just make 2 basic beanies with bows for Quinn. The best part about the bows is that they are attached with alligator clips, so I can take them off the hat if I want and can also use them as hair clips.

I got the bow pattern from Mary at Crocheting the Day Away. She seriously makes the cutest things! Once I get get the bows down to perfection I'm going to make some more hats for my niece that's due this month and some friends.

Crafting: Wood letters

Painting wood letters or using scrapbook paper to decorate them is a very popular craft project right now, but none of them have been done for my daughter, so I'm very excited to share the letters I created with you.

When creating letters for Corben I had simply bought wood letters, spray painted them chocolate brown, and then glued them to a painted piece of wood to make them stand upright for his bookshelf. I wanted to take it up notch this time for Quinn and I love how they turned out! When I get ready to hang them I'll either use pink ribbon or I'll attach them to the wall with foam hanging strips attached to the back of the letters.

Supplies Needed:
1. Wood letters (I got these pre-cut at Michaels)
2. Scrapbook paper (Pick out any coordinating sheets that you like. It usually turns out best if you alternate  letters with a print and solid color)
3. Modpodge (I got the gloss finish)
4. Foam brush
5. A pencil
6. Scissors
7. Nail file or sandpaper
8. Ribbon or foam strips to hang letters

Directions:

1. Turn scrapbook paper with printed side down and trace letter face down with pencil. Cut out your tracing. It's best to cut outside the line because it's easier to trim up any excess paper later on instead of making an error and not having enough paper for coverage. Repeat this process with each letter.

2. Pour some modpodge into a bowl and with your foam brush apply a light layer to the front of your first letter.

3. Match up the back of your scrapbook paper letter to the front of your wooden letter and slide into place. Smooth down, making sure each part adheres, and smooth out any bubbles. Wipe any excess modpodge that oozes out the sides with a paper towel. Repeat this process with each letter.

4. After waiting 15 minutes, apply a light layer of modpodge to the front of each letter. Wipe any drips that get on the side with a paper towel. The word on the street says that you don't have to apply modpodge to the front of the letters if you don't want to, but I'm glad that I did and love the finished touch it gave my letters.

5. After the modpodge has dried you can use your scissors to trim up any excess scrapbook paper and then use a nail file (or sandpaper) to smooth any edges.

6. Add any extras that you want (I added a ribbon bow to one of my letters) and glue ribbon to back of letters in order to hang them or attach your foam adhesive strips.

7. Marvel at the beautiful letters you've created!

I had so much fun doing this project and wish I had more wood things to adorn with scrapbook paper. The best part is this is the easiest, quickest project to complete.

I feel I owe it to my letters to give each one individual attention (the Q and the last N are my favs):

20 Weeks

I can't believe that Quinn will be here in 19 weeks! {I have to deliver by 39 weeks compliments of lupus... gah}. This makes me panic because I know it will be here before I know it, but seeing her face for the first time will be so amazing.

How far along? 20 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss: Ugh, I don't want to talk about it... okay fine. I'm up 7 lbs. I guess gaining 3 lbs in one week isn't too terrible, but it was more then I was hoping for. I've just been so snacky this week. It's still better than the more than 20 lbs I had gained with Corb.en by this point. I will do better next week! Maybe.

Maternity clothes? Yup

Stretch marks? Nothing new.

Sleep: No bueno. Falling asleep is so difficult now because it's so hard to find a comfortable position. I think it would be going better if we had a firmer mattress. I seriously have been contemplating sleeping on our AeroBed instead because I think it would be more comfortable. I've also been waking up at least once during the night.

Best moment this week: Cor.ben and I have just had the best week together. Today was an especially fun mommy and son day. We met with our playgroup in the morning, took a great nap, then went out to dinner just the two of us since daddy was at work and I didn't feel like cooking, and then we went to Target and shopped together. He's just been such a funny boy this week and his personality cracks me up and fills me with such joy. I'm eating up our last bit of time with it being the two of us.

Movement: Consistent movement has returned (thanks for the prayers Brittney), but I'm still waiting on the big kicks :(. At least I can feel her and I know she's okay in there.

Food cravings: Flamin' Hot Cheetos with lime and Cuties (mandarin oranges) like they're going out of style. It's becoming a problem, haha.

Gender: A girl!

Labor signs: No labor signs, but I was having really bad Braxton Hicks during week 17, they went away, but now they're back again. I am not a fan.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Wedding rings on or off? On and off. I've been having some swelling in my hands and sometimes my ring gets too tight.

What I miss: Caffeinated coffee.

What I am looking forward to: Big kicks and my growth scan at the end of this month.
